Agreements 1. The programme for the workshop was agreed as proposed 2. Speakers will give their statements on their own, with Lennart, Luca and maybe Enrico an interview situation will be performed 3. Speakers will host their tables for the world café (40 minutes) • Positive Content (John Carr/Lidia de Reese) • Parental Control by technical means (Elizabeth Milovidov/ Narine Khachatryan) • Safety by Design (Sabine Frank / Tilman Gräter) • Empowerment of children and youths (Lennart Nickel / Luca Troncone) 4. Depending on the number of participants we will decide onsite whether we have 2 x 20 minutes for debate at the tables or 4 x 10 minutes 5. Aspects to provoke thoughts and debates at the tables are: • positive aspects of the current situation • future developments and resulting challenges • options to react and to cope with the challenges • innovation and progress 6. Table hosts should summarize the debate orally at the end of the world café and phrase one "Message from Berlin" with reference to their topic ___

Discussion on Mai 2014

In respect of the legal framework of children's rights (freedom of speech and information, privacy) and parents duties to care and educate intelligent risk management for children and youths in the digital world must build on different pillars, i. e.

  • Positive Content
  • Parental Control by technical means
  • Safety by Design
  • Empowerment of children and youths


The workshop will invite 4 speakers to give a short statement of the status quo each speaker towards one of the 4 pillars (5 min each)


By means of an appreciative approach the workshop participants will then discuss

  • positive aspects of the current situation
  • future developments and resulting challenges
  • options to react and to cope with the challenges
  • innovation and progress


The debate shall cover technical aspects as well as societal developments and the legal and political framework.
