== Session teaser ==
Almost two decades after the initial World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), does Internet governance keep pace with the development of the digital landscape? What’s the role of the United Nations in governing the Internet in 2022? Do existing IGF processes fit the need or more could be done? Will the IGF 2022 be a change we all want to see?

== Session description ==
Much on digital policy and related processes is happening across the United Nations system. The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is actively working on ‘adapting, innovating and reforming’. It recently concluded its second retreat, the Expert Group Meeting, from which a number of action points are subject to implementation and expected to trigger a change. In addition, as a concrete action point from the Roadmap for Digital Cooperation, the IGF has reformed its structure by introducing the Leadership Panel. What to expect from the Panel?

The Secretary-General went steps further on the Roadmap by issuing his Our Common Agenda Report. Can this vision for “reinvigorating multilateralism” trigger re-energization of multistakeholderism? What are the Global Digital Compact and Summit of the Future about and how can all stakeholders be part of them including those gathered around various intersessional processes of the IGF?

== Format ==
This will be an open, interactive, roundtable exchange between those working directly on the above-mentioned UN processes and those contributing or wishing to contribute to it. It will be an opportunity to challenge the status quo and provide creative ideas to strengthen the existing processes.
The proposed draft agenda of the session will develop around the following areas:
* WSIS+20 – where do we stand today? How much has Internet governance changed? How much has IGF changed? Will the IGF 2022 in Addis Ababa be the change we want to see? How the IGF can feed into the WSIS+20 review process?
* IGF in the context of the implementation of the Secretary-General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation – what’s been done so far and where people can contribute?
* Can we hope for better days if the Our Common Agenda is implemented? What is the concrete plan for the Global Digital Compact and a vision for the Summit of the Future? What role the IGF could play?

Throughout the agenda, a special focus is on the value of local levels and concrete ways EuroDIG and other NRIs could contribute to the UN processes and vice-versa.
Working title: '''Internet governance within the system of the United Nations: is IGF on a good path to adapt, innovate and reform?'''

== Session teaser ==

== Session description ==

Can this vision for ‘’reinvigorating multilateralism’’ trigger re-energization of multistakeholderism? What are the Global Digital Compact and Summit of the Future about and how can all stakeholders be part of them including those gathered around various intersessional processes of the IGF?

== Format ==
*WSIS+20 – where do we stand today? How much has the IGF changed? Will the GF 2022 in Addis Ababa be the change we want to see?
*IGF in the context of the implementation of the Secretary-General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation – what’s been done so far and where people can contribute?
*Can we hope for better days if the Our Common Agenda is implemented? What is the concrete plan for the Global Digital Compact and a vision for the Summit of the Future? What role the IGF could play?
Throughout the agenda, a special focus is on the value of local levels and concrete ways EuroDIG and other NRIs could contribute to the UN processes and vice-versa.

'''Part 4''' - Session hosted by the IGF Secretariat

'''Towards an innovative IGF 2021'''

For over a year, the world turned to digital completely. The IGF, as well, was hosted completely online for the very first time in its history. Many lessons are learned and being applied to this year’s IGF. Join us for this interactive session to learn what is new and to help us improve further IGF 2021.

The IGF 2021 process includes an interactive community-centred preparatory phase and the 16th annual meeting to be hosted by the Government of Poland in Katowice from 6 to 10 December. The entire process will be hosted in a hybrid format, to ensure as-equal-as-possible participation of online and onsite participants.
Even though the IGF was always hosted in a format that aimed to accommodate online participation, this year's process will invest even more effort into this goal. The COVID-19 pandemic and related travel restrictions are not the only factors that prompted the IGF to evolve towards a hybrid nature. Its mandate, continuous advice from the community, as well as the Roadmap for Digital Cooperation all added to the momentum for concrete action in improving the participation conditions.

The IGF is more out there, closer to people. This is why the intersessional working modalities are also advancing and many capacity development activities are being introduced. We hope that the IGF 2021 process will engage many historically unrepresented stakeholders who will help us to ensure Internet governance processes are present in all corners of the world.
This session will allow participants to learn more about IGF innovations and how to effectively engage in the IGF 2021 processes.

== Format ==

'''Part 4'''
'''Towards an innovative IGF 2021''' (Session hosted by the IGF Secretariat)

Towards an innovative IGF 2021

== Format ==
Briefings and updates followed by interactive discussions among NRI-Organisers supporters and everyone interested.
It is a tradition that European national and regional IGF's (NRI's) are gathering during EuroDIG. This year we moved the meeting to day zero to offer more time for exchange and we invited all coordinators of European NRI's. The meeting is open and any interested individual is welcome.

== Keywords ==

== Session description ==
The NRIs Assembly shall serve to better connect European NRI’s with EuroDIG and the global IGF and identify ways to strengthen and support each other.

We will start with a discussion facilitated by Larry Strickling on convening stakeholders to solve concrete problems and develop norms on a consensus basis. This is part of the [https://www.internetsociety.org/collaborativegovernance/ “Collaborative Governance Project”], a multistakeholder initiative of the Internet Society and shall help the NRIs coordinators in particular to better serve their community.

The discussion shall then lead into concrete proposals that NRI coordinators can implement in their region or country and that enhances the connection of NRIs in Europe and beyond.

Another point of discussion will be contribution of NRIs to the global IGF. Anja Gengo Focal Point for NRIs at the IGF Secretariat will provide us an update on the status of the programme planning and what the opportunities are for NRIs to contribute.

== Format ==
The part that is facilitated by Larry Strickling shall be a capacity building opportunity for NRI coordinators, with some concrete proposals as result, helping them to convene the multistakeholder dialogue within their country. The second part should have the nature of an assembly where joint activities will be identified and discussed. Ideally we come up with a joint positions and messages to contribute to the IGF planing.
