Session teaser

At the end of WWII Trieste has been the southern end of the iron curtain dividing East and West Europe. Since then it has been a bridge rather than a border, fostering East-West collaboration. What is the situation today, with a particular view on technology, and specifically Internet?

Session description

The session will start with a historic view of the East-West relationships. At the end of WWII Europe was divided by the iron curtain that was marking the border between East and West. Nowadays Europe is collaborating and if there are borders they are elsewhere. Presentations will follow that will give examples of collaboration between Eastern and Western Europe, with a special focus on projects that are involving scientists and scholars that are connected to Trieste. The speakers will then answer questions from the audience.

Format

The session will be a round table with contributions by different experts. Each expert will give a short presentation and there will be ample time for Q&A.
