Biographical Information

Auke Pals

Auke Pals is a Project Manager at GÉANT, an e-infrastructure organisation providing cutting-edge pan-European networking, and trust and identity services exclusively for the research and education community. In this role he is responsible for the delivery of externally funded projects, delivery of project management support and Internet Governace activities with the focus on enabling and stimulating research. Auke has over 8 years’ experience working in the IT and Internet governance industry prior to joining GÉANT and holds a BSc in Information Science and an MSc in Information Studies (Major: Information Systems).

Hendrik Ike

Hendrik Ike is a Public Affairs Specialist who works for GÉANT, a European association which serves the research and education networking community by providing connectivity and developing services. GÉANT's essential terabit-ready network is the most advanced and well-connected research and education network in the world. Hendrik is responsible for developing and maintaining channels of communication with European institutions and the National Research and Education Network community, and is also responsible for GÉANT’s positioning towards global Internet Governance.

Michael J. Oghia

Michael J. Oghia is a Belgrade-based consultant, editor, researcher, speaker, and ICT sustainability advocate working within the digital policy & infrastructure, Internet governance, and media development ecosystems. He is the External Relations Coordinator at the Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Alliance (SDIA), a member of the Steering Committee of the Internet Rights and Principles Coalition (IRPC), a contributor to EuroDIG's Greening Internet Governance intersessional work, and an Associate Member of the EuroDIG Support Organisation.

Pierpaolo Marchese

As of today, I am an independent ICT Consultant. Recently, I have been part of the ETSI Board of Directors, for TIM SpA and I cooperate with industry and academy stakeholders on Standards for future Networks. My current interests include 5G Mobile Technologies, Virtualisation, Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, Automotive and ICT, Artificial Intelligence, Technology dissemination within SME.

Born in 1960, I graduated in ICT Engineering. For more than 33 years I was part of TIM S.p.A Group with various team and management responsibilities in Technology and R&D departments, including Network Standard Coordination and IPR and R&D project portfolio management.

Vittorio Bertola

Vittorio Bertola is the Head of Policy & Innovation at Open-Xchange, the world’s leading provider of open source email and DNS solutions for hosting, service provider and telecommunication companies, where he develops and promotes new technical standards and advocates an open Internet based on user choice, privacy and federation. In the last twenty years he was involved with several Internet startups and served in many Internet governance organizations, including the ICANN Board and the United Nations Working Group on Internet Governance.
