This flash session partly presents the research results of a PhD thesis on the interplay between the principle of purpose limitation provided for by European data protection law and and data-driven innovation. Coming from the view on data protection law as a risk regulation, the session focuses on instruments of regulated self-regulation as innovation-enhancing mechanisms.
