Session description

Until .
2021 marks the 10th anniversary of Charter of Human Rights and Principles for The Internet the main output document of the Internet Rights and Principles Coalition. Over the past decade the IRPC Charter has been used by all stakeholder groups around the world in their efforts to promote human rights in the online environment. The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and its implications on human rights and fundamental freedoms worldwide has shown that promoting and safeguarding human rights online is urgently needed. From the right to access and the right to education, to data protection, freedom of expression and information and environmental sustainability, the Charter has been supporting important discussions within the Internet Governance community and beyond.

This session marks the start of the 10th anniversary of the Charter and includes the soft digital launch of the Italian translation of the Charter and we are very pleased to welcome the translation teams, including students from the universities of Padova and Salerno under the leadership of Edoardo Celeste, Claudia Padovani and Mauro Santaniello.

The translation of the Charter has been one the most important outreach efforts of the Coalition over the last decade and the Italian translating team will give us some insight into their work and put this important outreach effort under the spotlight.
