YOU^th Funding

2022 was the European year of youth. Therefore at EuroDIG 2022 during the NRI Assembly and the IGF Youth Track, we launched the call for youth funding.

We are calling on the EuroDIG community to rally together to find funding opportunities that are available in our countries to attend conferences, forums and international events. We hope to provide an overview of accessible funding which can lead to connecting people to work together to obtain this funding.

Belgium

The Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO)

The Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) subsidises fellowships and research projects, infrastructure, travel grants and international scientific cooperation.

• Grant for participation in a conference abroad
• Success rate: 59%
• Criteria: Must actively participate/present at the conference

Who can apply: PhD, Postdoctoral and Belgian researchers studying at a Flemish university Fun fact: You can apply twice a year! (hint: EuroDIG & IGF)

European Union

Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges

Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges allow groups of people from different countries to meet, live together and work on shared projects for short periods.

• Participants: Youth between the ages of 13 and 30
• Duration: Between 5 and 21 days, excluding travel time
• Who can apply: youth organisations, informational groups of young people or other organisations

Erasmus+ Opportunities for organisations (Key Action 1)
Erasmus+ Opportunities for organisations (Key Action 1) encourages the mobility of students, staff, trainess, apprentices, youth workers and young people.

• School education staff can go for teaching and professional development
• Young people and youth workers can organise youth exchanges allowing of young people to live and work together up to three *weeks. For youth workers, projects can focus on training and networking

European Youth Foundation - Council of Europe

European Youth Foundation

The European Youth Foundation (EYF) is a fund established in 1972 by the Council of Europe to provide financial and educational support for European youth activities. Only youth NGOs from the 46 Council of Europe member states, as well as the European Cultural Convention Signatories: Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Holy See, and the Russian Federation, can apply to the Foundation.

There are four kinds of grants open to different types of organisations:

• International activities (open to all except local NGOs)
• Annual work plans (only open to international NGOs/networks, can include pilot activities)
• Pilot activities (open to local, national, regional NGOs/networks)
• Structural grants (open to international and regional NGOs/networks).

The EYF may also have additional special calls.

The EYF does not provide support for the following types of activities: scholarships of any kind (school, university, research, programmes or exchanges, vocational training); commercial operations; construction, purchase or equipment of buildings; sports activities; tourism; participation in international exchanges; projects in agriculture and water sanitation; additional funding to cover costs for disadvantaged participants to take part in projects and/or activities funded by other donors; micro-credits; financial support for collecting and sending pedagogical material and/or food and/or clothes and/or books anywhere in the world.

Switzerland

Movetia
Movetia is the national agency for the promotion of exchanges and mobility in the education system.

• Youth in Action - Youth and Politics
• Participants: Young people aged between 13 and 30 can take part. At least 30 young people must take part in a project in the youth and politics sphere. Youth policy-makers, decision-makers or experts can take part in the project, regardless of their age or origin.
• Duration: At least 2, maximum 14 days (not including travel days).
• Who can apply: clubs, associations, NGOs or public bodies that operate in the field of extra-curricular youth work.
