Session description
Session full title: "Internet users' empowerment: Opportunities vs. risks"
The session aims to define ways to empower more people to make best use of the opportunities that digital technologies provide in order to assist economic development, competitiveness, education, social sphere.

Format
The three panelist will open the session with interventions on the following topics:
1. Criminal Justice and Industry collaboration
2. Youth empowerment
3. The importance of a multidisciplinary approach to combat online child sexual abuse material
Then the participants will discuss in three separate groups on the various aspects of empowerment of the ICT users in the digital era.
At a final panel session one rapporteur from each group will present the conclusions and recommendations of the group.

- Jeffrey DeMarco: Jeffrey DeMarco is a Research Fellow and Project Manager with the Centre for Abuse and Trauma Studies. The research centre has a range of expertise, with a focus on protecting young people online.
- Florian Daniel: Florian Daniel was actively involved in the creation of the recent Youth Manifesto for a Better Internet, which outlines key principles for creating a better internet.A Pan-EU Youth Ambassador, he previously attended the Safer Internet Forum, engaging in discussions on the Youth Manifesto principles and putting forward his ideas and thoughts on online reputation and growing up digitally.
