In this session we will discuss the impact of the Covid19 pandemic on online risks and threats for children. Speakers and participants are invited to report measures their organisation has taken and experiences made in this regard.

Introduction to the theme: How are children’s rights affected by the COVID19 pandemic? What needs to be done to respect, protect and fulfil the rights of the child in times of crisis? The session will start with ecpat international (Marie-Laure Lemineur and Istanbul Bilgi University IT Law Institute (Ayca Atabey) reporting on child protection issues in the crisis. Then Prof. Sonia Livingstone (London School of Economics) will draw the attention to the question how COVID19 has affected the realization of children's rights. Then Dr. Greg Adamson, Chair of IEEE SA Digital Inclusion, Identity, Trust, and Agency program will continue on the role of technology platforms that seems to be enlarged in times of the pandemic. Giacomo MAZZONE, European Broadcasting Union will report on the ITU Child Online protection Guidelines and present how EBU members have reoriented their offer to allow children to follow schools lessons via TV and on line during the period of the school closing. John Carr, UK's Children's Charities' Coalition on Internet Safety and Amy Crocker will help to sum-up and draft policy recommendations in regard of the following questions: Children’s concrete demands in times of crisis? What role should Internet Governance play to prevent children from risks in times of crisis and beyond? Who should do what? Who takes responsibility?

Participants are invited to report from their own activities and experiences.
