Biographical Information
David Frautschy
David Frautschy works as Senior Director, European Government and Regulatory Affairs at Internet Society. David is a government affairs professional with 20+ years of experience, 15+ of which focus on telecom and digital regulations, trade policy, and corporate social responsibility. He loves implementing advocacy campaigns, building coalitions, coordinating cross-border teams, and translating complex technology issues into easily understandable language. David is impassioned about the power of the Internet to transform people’s lives.
Edan Ring
Edan Ring is the VP of Community and Social Affairs at the Israel Internet Association (ISOC-IL). He directs the organization’s public and advocacy activities in various fields ranging from online safety and security, information and media literacy, digital rights and digital inclusion in Israel. He is also a researcher and teaching associate in the Department of Communication at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and a regular contributor to the Media watchdog website “The 7th Eye” and other Israeli media outlets. Previously, he was the co-director of the shared society department at the Sikkuy-Aufoq organization and a Journalist at Haaretz newspaper.
Karen Mulberry
Karen Mulberry is Senior Manager of Technology Policy at IEEE Standards Association (SA) where she is manages strategic public and government affairs programs at the intersection of technology, standards, regulation, and policy. Karen has been involved in developing and managing initiatives that shape technical policy and provide technical thought leadership throughout her career. Karen’s background includes working at ICANN, the Internet Society (ISOC), Neustar and Verizon. She holds a BS in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Menno Ettema
Menno Ettema is Head of the Hate Speech, Hate Crime and Artificial Intelligence Unit at the Anti-Discrimination Department of the Council of Europe. The unit works to promote and support national authorities, public institutions, Civil society partners other key stakeholder in the Council of Europe member States with the implementation of the CM Recommendations on combating hate speech and on combating hate crime, and upholding equality and non-discrimination in the use of AI and algorithmic decision-making systems. He was co-secretariat to the Experts Committee that drafted the Committee of Ministers Recommendation CM/Rec(2022)16 on Combating Hate Speech which was adopted in May 2022.
