Detailed Description

Introduction to the NewsArcade, fake news and importance of reliable media in the spread of disinformation.

NewsArcade is a game based on real, published news. Our objective is to bring Gen Z and journalism closer by playing together.

The game puts readers in the perspective of a journalist. At the beginning of the game the editor assigns you the topic to cover, a target group, or an objective or angle to strike. You will then have to choose what bits to use among materials that the journalists used in real life for their article (photos, quotes, videos). At every step you will "earn" points depending on how successful your choices will be towards winning the challenge set by the editor. You will see first hand that by progressively electing specific quotes and images for your article, you will effectually angle your story. At the end of the game you will see your story come to life, with your name as the author, and you will be able to share the challenge with your friends. The editor will analyse the article with you to explain your final result compared to the challenge of the beginning.

NewsArcade was developed in the span of two years through the combined efforts of game developers, researchers, publishers, and educators, thanks to the contribution of Creative Europe-Media.
